Our next charity concert, which will take place on Saturday 22nd November 2014 at 6:30pm - is set in the beautiful venue of St Mary's Church, Aylesbury. With performers of a range of ages - on clarinet, saxophone and piano  - the evening provides a unique opportunity for pupils to perform in front of a paying audience, whilst raising vital funds for charity. It is essential when learning an instrument to also learn the confidence and skills of how to perform in public, as well as performing together in a band.

The concert includes many pieces ranging from Mozart and Bach to Scott Joplin, Gershwin and even James Brown! Hot and cold refreshments are on sale, as well as homemade cakes and biscuits, plus a raffle with top prizes donated from local businesses supporting the event.

The evening is to raise funds for the Helen and Douglas Charity, which has the time and expertise to care for children and young adults with life-shortening conditions and support their families. The two hospice houses offer specialist symptom and pain management, medically-supported short breaks and end-of-life care, as well as counselling and practical support for the whole family.

They care for children, young adults, and their families mainly but not exclusively from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Wiltshire, and parts of London.

Helen House opened in 1982 as the world's first children's hospice. Douglas House opened in 2004 specifically for young adults aged 16-35.

Our special thanks to Alcom Computing who are contributing to the evening. We are looking for other local businesses to donate either prizes or sponsorship, allowing us to donate every penny raised to the charity!
