I have been teaching pupils on a one-to-one basis for the past twenty years within a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. These pupils have ranged in age from 4 years old to adult. I am very patient, make learning fun and adjust my teaching techniques appropriately to suit each individual in order for them obtain a love of their instrument and the music that they are ultimately able to produce.

I am currently teaching pupils privately in my home in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, and have extensive experience in peripatetic teaching in schools.

Lesson lengths of 30 minutes, 45 minutes and one hour are offered in relation to each individual’s needs and level of ability.

I offer tuition for the theory of music (both classical and jazz) alongside the practical, and always accompany my clarinet and saxophone pupils with the piano where required. I find that pupils enjoy and sometimes prefer to play their music with this accompaniment.

I have a very successful pass rate from candidates entered for ABRSM examinations, and as well as preparing pupils for these examinations, I also teach a wide variety of music, including classical, popular, jazz and duets.

I am also Dip. ABRSM qualified.

I currently charge £20 per half hour for teaching at my home in Aylesbury. I hope that you enjoy this site and that it proves to be useful to you.

Terms & Conditions

The following are my terms and conditions for all private lessons, without exception, that I offer from my home. Any changes to the terms and conditions, including the hourly cost of lessons, will be published to you at least 1 billing cycle before they take effect.

Lessons will take place at 31 Albert Street, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, HP20 1LY. Lessons are offered in 30, 45 or 60 minute durations - at a cost of £40 per hour (or part thereof). Should you require piano accompaniment for your practical exam, you will be charged your standard lesson rate for the duration of the exam. No charge will be made for the travel time.

Pupils will need to have their own instrument and provide their own music / reeds. Normally lessons will follow a weekly fixed day and time.

All lessons are charged for in advance in 5 week blocks. Payment is due upon receipt of your invoice. Invoices are provided at the start of each block. Should late payment occur, no more than 1 week of lessons will be provided beyond the billing date, before payment must be received.

Payment can be made by cash or bank transfer (details provided upon request). Your name should be shown on any bank transfers as the “reference”. Cheques are not accepted as a form of payment.

Lessons that are cancelled within 48 hours of their start time will be charged for - regardless of reason for cancellation (this includes bad weather). Lessons cancelled more than 48 hours before will be attempted to be re-arranged at a mutually suitable time. Should this not be possible, the lesson will be credited on your next invoice. Should I not be able to provide your lesson for whatever reason at its original scheduled time, and a new time not able to be arranged - a refund for that lesson will be credited on your next invoice.

If any more than 2 lessons are cancelled in advance within any 5 week period, regardless of the notice period given, you will have to pay for any additional cancelled lessons to maintain your slot – otherwise I maintain the right to offer your slot to others. Should you wish to stop lessons, a minimum of at least 5 weeks notice must be provided.
